Auchencairn Art Retreat Sun 15th to Sat 21st June 2025

Following on from the success of of last year’s Landscape painting retreat, I will be returning to Auchencairn House and the beautiful Solway Coast this June to do it all again, but bigger and better than before!

I won’t lie to you, I am absurdly excited about this. Not just because last year’s retreat was so much fun, but because this year I will be joined as tutor by the incredibly talented Ewan McLure. If you are remotely familiar with the Scottish art world, you will already be well aware of who Ewan is, but in case you aren’t, suffice to say he is unquestionably one of the country’s finest painters, and someone whom I feel extremely privileged to call a friend.

This really is a fabulous opportunity for prospective students, and I hope you will join us. Auchencairn House is situated in one of Scotland’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty, and guests can expect to enjoy an equally outstanding level of hospitality from their hosts, Poppy and Henry. The local landscape offers an embarrassment of riches to the prospective plein air painter, with rolling fields, rugged coastline, dramatic mountain views or intimate scenes within the estate’s stunning mature gardens. And to top it all off, you get two lanky ginger Scotsmen for the price of one as tutors - at least one of whom is an actual, honest to goodness, proper artist!

Bookings are open NOW on the Edinburgh Drawing School website (link below), and I advise you to jump on them while you can, because this is sure to be a popular retreat. I can’t wait to see you in June
